Cavaliers meet The Royal Family

My brothers and I awoke early on Christmas Day to set off for Sandringham to see the Royal Family. We arrived just after 7am and were right at the front of the queue sandwiched between groups of friendly, American tourists.  There was a great atmosphere and everyone was very excited!

The press were out in force, and we were lucky enough to be asked to do a interview for Sky News with reporter Enda Brady which was great fun!

They Royal Family headed into Church at 10.50am and ten minutes later the Church service began. Loudspeakers enabled us to hear what was going on inside the Church and carol sheets were handed out so that the general public could join in and singalong or in our case bark. Three quarters of an hour later the Royals emerged from the church and began their walk along the path leading back to Sandringham House.

We were informed that security was tighter this year and noticed that the Royal Family didn’t linger to speak to the crowds as much as they have done in past years.  However, The Duke Of Edinburgh did a double take when he saw us dogs! (I was very impressed to see him striding out and looking well after his recent ill-health) and Kate stopped by to say ‘Hello Doggies’ and give us a pat. Kate looked very resplendent and elegant, dressed in a tweed coat.  She even accepted a doggy toy from us for her own cocker spaniel, Lupo.

Well wishers had hoped to catch a glimpse of Prince George but Kate stated ‘I’m sorry we didn’t bring George but you would have heard him in the Church’.

There were lots and lots of our furry canine friends present and Prince Charles remarked that it was like Cruft’s Corner.

We had a thoroughly good time at Sandringham and everyone seemed happy and full of Christmas spirit.

Here’s a very short, 2 minute, video of the day.
